Zambia Walking Safaris

For me this is the ultimate way to do a Zambia Safari. When you walk, you are on the animals level. Walking brings you close in  touch, with the natural world. Certain game parks like South Luangwa, are well known for there Walking Safaris.

Zambia is the home of the Africa Walking Safari, and a Zambia Walking Safari will give  you a real sense of the bush , remote, wild, rugged, and desolate.

To lead a Zambia Walking Safari, a Safari guide has to undergo specialized training and testing.

These Zambia Walking Safaris packages, are private, just  for your travelling  party. While there are set days for a walking safari, we can add on days as you want

There is a certain level of fitness, durablity ie being the outdoors, hot sun, insects, that goes along with wanting to do a Zambia Walking Safari. They can last for a day, usually 3 to 5 hours in the morning, and more in the evening, or go on for as long as you want it to.

You can also combine a few days walking, with some days driveing

For general idea of fitness level, here are some guide lines. This does not mean this is the distance and timing of every day. But it gives you an idea of how fit you need to be.

The Luangwa Valley

The LUANGWA VALLEY, which marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, is one of the last unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa.

It covers an area of over 9000 sq. km. through which the meandering Luangwa River runs.

The oxbow lagoons, woodland and plains of the valley host huge concentrations of game - including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo - and over 400 species of birds.
