Plettenberg Bay Wild Dolphin Tours

                Contact us for rates.

Our Ecological Adventure leaves from Central Beach with an exciting beach launch and heads east past a bird sanctuary and beautiful Keurbooms beach to the famous Arch Rock.

Here we usually encounter large groups of Bottlenose and small pods of the rare Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins as well as some shark species. From Arch Rock we head out into the middle of the bay where pelagic seabirds are normally to be found some 7km from the shore.

Out there our resident Bryde's whales may be seen, as well as Common Dolphins or Southern Right and Humpback whales and even Orcas

We then traverse the Bay to the point of Robberg Peninsula and out to the WILD side, often seeing groups of Whales and pods of Dolphins. Cruising back along the inside of Robberg, we see the unique geology from this unusual viewpoint and can closely observe our growing Cape Fur Seal Colony. Finally we head back along the Robberg beach, while a brief rundown on the history, and shipwrecks of the area is given.

After passing the Beacon Island Hotel, built on the site of an original Whaling Station, we end the experience with an exhilarating beach landing, again on Central Beach where our 4X4 vehicle will meet you.

N.B. ALL TOURS AND ENCOUNTERS WITH MARINE ANIMALS ARE CONDUCTED STRICTLY ACCORDING TO CURRENT REGULATIONS AND CONSERVATION GUIDELINES.

Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route, is 2 hours from Port Elizabeth and 5 hours from Cape Town. With Knysna only 20 minutes away.

Out & about on our boats

Experience a world where the warm Agulhas current meets the temperate Benguela current. The result? A mild climate of 300 days of sunshine and mild water temperatures between 14 and 23 degrees Celsius.

IT'S MAGIC!

Join us on a magical journey - the smell of salt in the air, the cry of birds in your ears and sights of whales and dolphins that will quite literally, take your breath away.

We have four boats operational 3 times a day, on which we can launch up to 12 people per boat.

Generally our cruise times are 9.00am, 11.30am and 2.30pm, but we ask you to confirm this with each booking, as times do change according to weather patterns.

YOU ARE IN FOR AN EXPERIENCE!

In Plettenberg Bay we have an unusual launch method known as the dolly trailer system, where our passengers remain on the boat while it is pushed into the sea.

At no time are you out of our hands. We meet you at our shop in Central Beach, where your tour guide kits you up in life vests and weather proof jackets, and then we transport you down to the beach, where you are greeted by your skipper.

Once you are on board, your skipper and tour guide provide you with invaluable information about the marine life and the environment. And for the thirsty there are refreshments served during your cruise (sorry, non-alcoholic beverages only!). You complete your seafari with a transfer from the beach back to our shop, along with great memories!

Your safety and enjoyment are our prime concern. All our vessels are fully licensed and skippered by professional SATOUR accredited Tour Guides.
