Hi Stephen,
We're back and filled with a myriad of wonderful memories and experiences. Every day was jam-packed - we were up early and having breakfast on our Camps Bay porch looking out at the ocean and Lion's Head (which we climbed) and the edge of Table Mountain, and we collapsed into bed close to midnight. Cape Town certainly is as beautiful, if not more, than I can ever remember, looking bright and proud as it awaits the World Cup. Sobering, was the trip to Langa, which inevitably is deeply troubling. Our guide (I think his name was Sevuia (sp ?)) was smart and generous, and was in fact still living in Langa - and he showed us the best and worst of the place. A couple of days later, we were out at Muizenberg corner at 8:30 am, for a wonderful long day in the surf. Grant could not have been more perfect, sweet, patient and encouraging, even as we faced a shark alert! As a break we went for lunch at Knead, and met his very cool buddy Adrian. The girls came away thrilled and eager to catch the next wave, and I was persuaded to give it a shot and found muscle memory for it these decades later. I miss it. Your planning of our trip was perfect. The arrangements for cars, connections, drivers, planes and B&B all went off without a hitch. (Sonia was wonderfully helpful in securing the somewhat last minute booking at Bloomestate in Swellendam. We had a great time on that side trip.) Our experience at Londolozi Varty was unforgettable. We're looking forward to sifting through our (amateurish) 1,000+ photographs!
Thanks so very much for all of your time, effort and guidance. David and Madelaine
