Stephen,
Sorry it has taken us a while to write about our trip. We have been busy catching up and getting things back to normal.
We had a fantastic time in South Africa. Everything went great. All the accommodations were really nice. We enjoyed all of
them. There was nothing that I would change about any of them. The breakfasts were all very good. The location of the
Commodore was nice being right down by the Waterfront. We were able to walk there with no problem. We enjoyed eating
at the Jewel of India and Baia. The staff at all three guest houses were very friendly and accommodating.
The guide in Cape Town was excellent. We were very pleased with her and enjoyed talking with her throughout our three
days on tour. We did go to the market on Saturday as you suggested. It was interesting to see some of the local interests.
The drive to Port Elizabeth was fun. It might have been better if we had another day. We could have seen a lot more along
the way.
We really enjoyed Honeyguide, both the facilities and guides. The food and staff were wonderful. We liked the tents. It
made it seem like we were really in the bush. There was a waterhole in front of our tent that allowed us to view the wildlife
as they came in to drink. We didn’t enjoy the guide at Mala Mala as much. He always wanted to get very close to the lions
and leopards which made us uncomfortable. He didn’t seem to take our concerns seriously. We also thought that being that
close was unnecessary and we really weren’t viewing the animals in a natural setting. We weren’t sure it was a good fit for
us. We were really happy with their accommodations and the staff was friendly.
All told we had a great time and would do it again and also would (and have) recommend your and your company to others.
I did look at Johannesburg and Amsterdam airports for the cashew and coconut candy with no luck.
