Stephen, Please forgive us for not answering your email sooner. I have gotten over jet lag and am trying to get ready to leave for Toronto tomorrow morning and then on to Florida on Monday. The trip you put together for us was amazing - when we started this last February all I knew was that I wanted to go to Cape Town, wine tour, penquins, Garden Route(which I did not know exactly what that meant), Victoria Falls and Safari. It had to fit into the 13 nights we had based on our air. You got it all fitted in. Absolutely loved the 4 nights in Capetown with our guide, Martin. So glad we chose to stay at the V&A and was upgraded to the lovely Dock House with 6 rooms. We both really loved it. Martin did an outstanding job. The Garden Route was really neat and Herbie was excellent also - pretty decadent for us to be just the 2 of us with our own guide. Cant speak highly enough about Nottens. We loved everything about it - including no electricity. I would definitely recommend the Drakensberg Escarpment region for anyone who had the time like we did. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the magnificant views of Blyde River Canyon and waterfalls. Victoria Falls Hotel was everything that the hype said and we really enjoyed it. It really got hot while we were there, 104 degrees. The views of the Falls were everything I had hoped for. Trip into Botswana was interesting. The person who picked us up at the border thought we were going to Chobe something else in Kasane-we got it straightened out. The car/truck that we were picked up in was something else. The speedometer showed 0 the whole time and everything on the road passed us. Very happy with your suggestion of Chobe. It was quite neat being on the river and the Lodge was excellent. Now as a former travel agent I always waited for the BUT. After talking with friends who were a few days behind us staying at the Cape Grace, Mali Mali, etc type places which we were not going to spend that much money, also flew to the delta in Botswana. They felt they did not need to do 3 safaris. But they did fly from Chobe to Zambia and spent 2 nights at Victoria Falls. I know we had that option but you explained that the view was better from the Zimbabwe side(you were correct). They did walk across bridge and saw the Falls from both sides We are sorry we did not do this as we would have been able to skip one hotel. I know we would not have done the Drakensburg then but that would have been ok. We wished we had stayed at one of the hotels we could have walked to from the airport instead of taking the shuttle and taxi to the Grand Airport Hotel. We would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone who asked us. Thank you and the best to you. Marilyn and Ray
