"We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right"

Hand Rearing Sanctuary

Our partner situated in Midrand – between Johannesburg and Pretoria – has one of the finest collections of endangered, exotic and indigenous animals in South Africa.

The sanctuary, a non-profit organisation or NPO, is one of the few facilities globally where staff and YOU can still hand-rear cubs and juvenile birds. YOU could experience the unique feeling of bottle-feeding a lion cub or bathing a tiger!

Most of the animals housed and cared for have been rescued, confiscated, orphaned and abandoned. The Owl Sanctuary and rescue centre is well known in Africa and abroad. YOU could play a part in caring for these special owls and birds.

The santuary functions as a hands-on facility where the public can form emotional bonds and have fantastic experiences with various types of animals. It is through these experiences that people would fulfil their social responsibility towards animals, in turn helping with the protection and preservation of them and their environment. The santuary is involved in various CITES breeding programmmes for endangered animals, such as the Ocelot and Ruffled Lemur who are on the highly endangered list.

Children learn how to maintain a holistic environment through educational programmes, continued breeding of endangered species and the provision of a sanctuary for non-releasable animals. YOU could help with educating school groups on key conservation issues.

YOUR donation included in the project fee will contribute to the long-term sustainability of the project. On your return home you may continue to support the project with on-going donations directly into the projects account.
