A winding fossil channel vanishes into the sweeping expanse of a relic marsh, where the spectacular fortress of the Gubatsa Hills relieves Savute’s otherwise flat countryside.  Savute Elephant Camp is set amidst towering acacia trees on the banks of the dry Savute Channel in a rugged, semi-arid wilderness region of the Chobe National Park. Accommodation is in 12 luxurious twin-bedded tents with private timber decks. Spacious en suite facilities have a “his and hers vanity unit” and a dressing room area. Game, which includes elephant, lion and rare wild dog, may be viewed from the large deck of the airy central lounge and dining area or from open safari vehicles during morning and evening drives. Savute is known for its exciting game-viewing and excellent birdlife. A recent addition to the Lodge is a Meade DS114 telescope, in order to further enjoy the night sky.

JACK’S CAMP                                                                          TENTED DESERT CAMPSituated on an acacia island shaded by umbrella thorns and desert palms looking out onto the vast golden grasslands of the Makgadikgadi National Park in the Kalahari Desert, Jack’s Camp offers a unique opportunity to explore the Pans and understand the Kalahari.  The Makgadikgadi Pans are, today, the remains of what was an enormous lake situated at the southern end of Africa’s Great Rift Valley.  Through continual movement of the earth’s crust the Pans were left exposed leaving one of the last and most important wetland sites in Africa.  In the wet season, the Makgadikgadi Pans fill with water attracting flocks of flamingo and other migratory birds.   Accommodation for 16 guests is in classical East African ‘40s safari style tents with private adjacent bucket shower and flush toilet.  Traditional equipment such as canvas and wood basins, copper water jugs and paraffin lamps are complimented by Persian rugs and bone-handled silver.  Depending on the season, and weather permitting, activities include game drives to experience the annual wildebeest and zebra migration and bird walks to observe migratory waterfowl breeding/feeding sites.  An expedition onto the Salt Pans on 4WD quad bikes will give you the opportunity to experience the vast emptiness of this incredible, mysterious area. Other activities include night drives to view the unique desert wildlife as well as game walks with a San (Bushman) trackers. A visit to the historical Baobabs and remote area dwellings allows guests to gain an insight into local tribal tradition and culture.

MOMBO CAMP                                                             LUXURY TENTED BUSH CAMPMombo Camp is situated just off the northwestern tip of Chief's Island, within the Moremi Reserve.  Sometimes an island on its own and sometimes linked to Chief’s Island as the ebb and flow of the Delta’s waters constantly modifies the area. Mombo provides excellent game viewing opportunities as elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and cheetah are common in the region.  A large pack of wild dogs frequents the area around the camp.  Bird life is prolific with waterfowl and waders being particularly common.  Dickinson’s Kestrel, Pinkthroated Longclaw, Wattled Crane and Meyer’s Parrot are among the species found on the floodplains and in the woodlands.   Beneath huge trees on the edge of a broad floodplain there are ten tented rooms.   Each tent has private en-suite facilities and solar-powered lights.  The dining room, lounge and bar are under thatch on a raised teak deck overlooking the floodplain and there is a plunge pool to cool off in during the heat of the day.  Early morning and late afternoon game drives are in open 4x4 vehicles.  Alternatively, you may opt to go on an interesting and educational foot trail with an experienced guide.

SERRA CAFEMA                                                                                   BUSH CAMPSerra Cafema Camp is the most remote camp in Southern Africa and offers one of the most memorable experiences in Namibia. The small 14 bedded camp, whose only access is by aircraft, is located in the extreme north-west of Namibia. Serra Cafema shares this region with the Himba people who are some of the last true nomadic people of Africa. The Kunene River is the only permanent source of water and creates a lush oasis along its banks surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes. The camp is situated under big shady Albida trees overlooking the Kunene River and comprises seven canvas and thatched chalets that are raised off the ground, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Other facilities include a small swimming pool, dining room and pub. One goes to sleep at night to the sounds of gurgling water from the rapid just downstream from camp. In stark contrast, during the day, guests spend their time exploring one of the planet's driest deserts. Activities include enjoying the breath-taking landscape scenes with herds of springbok, ostrich and oryx dotted here and there, traversing the sand dunes on 4x4 safaris and boating on the Kunene River. Walking trails in the remote mountain and river valleys are also a highlight. Serra Cafema is often visited by the native Ovahimba families who live in the nearby vicinity which gives guests the opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and traditions. PEPONI HOTEL                                                                                    ISLAND RESORTPeponi is located on a headland between an eight-mile beach and the small Swahili town of Lamu, on the island of Lamu where architecture, views, dining, beach, sounds and smells are all exhilarating surprises. There are only 24 rooms at Peponi, 10 superior and 14 standard, all with sea views. Some have large, private outdoor areas with swing beds and Swahili furniture and all rooms come with overhead fans, mosquito nets, fresh flowers and a safe. Water sports including water-skiing, snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, speedboat charters and deep-sea fishing are available and a fresh water, free form swimming pool has just been opened.
