Vilankulos Casa Rex

 Casa  rex is  a  lesse xpensive alternative to the  Island resorts, located in the quite town of Vilankulos

Regulars at Casa Rex might speak of the homely, world class accommodation, with air conditioning, wireless internet access and the individual style of each of our family rooms and suites.

Our professional staff would outline the conveniences - laundry, airport shuttles, secure parking - then tell you about our elegant pool, the terrace overlooking the harbour and offshore islands, and our popular a la carte restaurant, with its fresh seafood and imported wines.

Casa Rex provides free transport to and from activities within Vilankulo. If requested, we will gladly make the reservation for you.

 

 

All our rooms at Casa Rex have seaviews, en-suite bathrooms and private balconies or verandahs.

There is wireless ADSL internet access throughout the hotel, in the rooms as well as in the public areas.

There are 2 salt water swimming pools for use by hotel residents. Both incorporate panoramic ocean views.

Possible activities are:

  • Diving - Mozambique is one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world. The diving around the Bazaruto Archipelago is magnificent. You need to see it to believe it!
    Double dive 3400 MT
    Single dive 2500 MT
    Including National Park tickets.
    Discover scuba and PADI scuba courses (Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master) also available on request.
  • Snorkelling - There are several stunning snorkelling places around the Bazaruto Archipelago.
    The most famous one is the aquarium (inside of two mile reef) 1900 MT, including National Park tickets
  • Game fishing - If you are a fisherman (or woman) this is the place to be. The deep sea fishing in this area is world renowned.
    1260 MT per hour or full day fishing 8750 MT + 63 MT per litre.
    Includes skipper, gillie, bait and all fishing gear.
    Excluding National Park ticket.
  • Whale & Dolphin watching - July - Sept. The Bazaruto Archipelago surrounding Vilankulo is visited by migrating hump-back whales which mate and calve in the warm waters.
    3185 MT per person.
    Advance bookings required, as visiting Marine Biologist can be arranged to lead the trips and give amazing insight into these magnificent creatures of the deep.
    Excludes National Park tickets.
  • Dhow trips to the Bazaruto Archipelago - The most relaxed day trip to the islands (good value for money). Go snorkelling, strolling along the white, deserted beaches on one of the islands, enjoy the beautiful views, or go swimming in the lagoon.
    1900 MT for adults and half price for children under 12 (under 6 free of charge), including coffee, tea, lunch and National Park tickets.
  • Sunset cruise - Enjoy the stunning sunset from the water. Can't get better!
    55 USD (2 hours), including snacks, excluding drinks (minimum of 4 pax).
  • Canoeing - If you want to explore on your own. Goes per hour (about 10 USD per hour)
  • Sailing - With the dhow or catamaran. Goes per hour (about 10-15 USD per hour)
  • Waterskiing, donut rides - for the adrenaline rush seeker
    45 USD per ½ hour
  • Visit to the Vilankulo market area - To get a real Mozambique experience, a visit to the local market is a must.
  • Guided village walk - For those who are interested in the history of Vilankulo.
    30 MT per half hour.
  • Guided island walks - The Bazaruto Archipelago islands are well known for their beaches, but many overlook the beauty of the islands. There are even crocodiles on some islands!
  • Boat rental costs + guide (price on request, depends on amount of passengers)
  • Bird watching - Due to the surroundings we have a great variety of birds around the lodge, the lakes, on the islands and in the sanctuary Saint Sebastian. Free of charge (except if boat transfer is requested to the sanctuary).
  • Horse riding - Horse riding along the beach or around the lakes(also for beginners).
    45 USD for a 2 ½ hour guided ride (adults) and 25 USD per hour for beach rides for children.
  • 4 x 4 car rental - self drive safari - There is a car rental organization at the airport (Merkin). Rental car can either be delivered to the lodge or be picked up on arrival.
    100 USD per full day, excluding fuel and 60 USD for half day
  • Dining out - There are several restaurants in Vilankulo. Besides Casa Rexs superb a la carte restaurant, there are the following restaurants in close proximity: Na sombra, Samara, Veranda, Casa Guci*, Smugglers Tropical, and Dona Soraya* SQ (3 course dinner is around 25 USD).
  • Massages - If you really want to treat yourself.
    Full body massage 30 USD,
    Neck shoulder and head massage 20 USD
  • In addition to all these activities, you can of course also choose to relax by the pool or enjoy a good book.
