ZULULAND - Beach, Bush & Culture Tour Code GS

This trip is highly recommended in the turtle season: October - February

Day 1 (L&D)
Depart Durban 08H00.
Arrive +/- 15H00 at Kosi Bay from where you will be met by camp staff.
Access to camp is by 4 x 4 transfer. Afternoon at leisure.
Possibility of optional evening turtle excursion on any of the first 4 nights.
+/- 4 hour excursion departing at 19H00
- Mid October till mid January -> laying
- December till mid March -> hatchlings

Day 2 (B,L&D)
Depart 08H00 for full day Kosi Lake excursion.
Explore 3 of the Kosi lake system, consisting of a total of four lakes.
Traditional Zulu fish traps and channels.
Boat trip to Kosi Bay mouth
- Hike from lake-system to bay mouth +/- 4 km one way.
- One of the top ten snorkelling spots in the world.
- Snorkelling on the estuarine side of the ocean on reefs protected from the waves (274 species of tropical fish)
Picnic lunch on beach. Return by boat to lodge +/- 16H00

Day 3 (B,L&D)
Depart 09H00 for full day 4x4 coastal excursion.
Drive to Dog Point & Black Rock - home to Bouton's Snake-eyed skink.
Snorkelling and bathing in a protected cove in the Indian Ocean.
Walk on desolate beaches. Return to lodge +/- 16H00

Day 4 (B,L&D)
Morning canoeing at Kosi Bay.
Afternoon excursion to Raphia Palm Forest - largest leaf plant in the world.
Hike in dune forest and swamp forest in search of the very rare Palmnut Vulture.
Possibility of viewing crocodiles and hippos.
Date palm wine tasting on return route.

Day 5 (B,L&D)
Depart Kosi Bay.
Visit Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve (Big 5 reserve) - game drive.
Overnight in reserve or similar. (Optional night drive)

Day 6 (B,L&D)
Morning game drive.
Depart Midday for Simunye - Zulu Cultural Homestead.
Cultural programme, dancing and overnight.

Day 7 (B)
Morning departure for mid-day arrival in Durban.

THIS PROGRAMME IS VERY RELYABLE ON WEATHER CONDITIONS AND DAILY ACTIVITIES COULD BE ROTATED TO BEST SUIT WEATHER AT TIME OF EXCURSION !!
