Friday/Saturday - USA or Canada/Cape Town
Board your flight on South African Airways to Cape Town. Your Park East representative escorts you to the Commodore Hotel, located at the highest point on the Victoria & Alfred waterfront. COMMODORE HOTEL
Sunday/Monday/Tuesday - Cape Town/Paarl
Enjoy a scenic drive to the Cape of Good Hope, the meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Your adventure includes a stop at the granite boulders with magnificent views of the Twelve Apostles. At Hout Bay, board a boat to see the Cape fur seals on Duiker Island.
Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you’ll enjoy lunch. Explore the rocky coastline and watch for diverse birdlife. Drive to the southernmost tip of the continent, Cape Point, which offers beautiful views. Then visit Boulders Beach and the African jackass penguin. You return to your hotel for a Welcome Dinner.
The following day, drive to South Africa’s wine country. Lush vineyards await you in Paarl, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch and wine-tastings. Continue to Stellenbosch, a 17th century village with Cape Dutch homes, famous mansions and majestic mountains.
On your last day in Cape Town, take a cable car to the summit of Table Mountain (weather permitting). Later, enjoy a scenic drive to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. COMMODORE HOTEL (3B,3L,1D)
Wednesday/Thursday - Hluhluwe
Fly from Cape Town to Durban, where you drive to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Your lodge has 12 luxury chalets each with its own deck, offering spectacular views of the surrounding wetlands. You’ll explore Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park in fully open vehicles. Watch for the park’s most famous inhabitants: both black and white rhino. You’ll also encounter elephant, buffalo, leopard and colorful birdlife.
The following day, enjoy a unique water experience: a sunrise cruise along the Hluhluwe River into the nearby lake. Meander along the shoreline of this World Heritage Site wetland as your guide explains its origins. You can also explore the area by canoe, gliding silently between the reedlined banks of the river.
Later, visit the DumaZulu Village for a firsthand look at tribal culture. Descendants of Zulu warriors perform ulsating dances while Zulu women chant centuries-old songs and witch doctors influence ancient spirits. Observe the craftsmanship of the Zulu people and sample traditional foods. HLUHLUWE RIVER LODGE (B,L,D daily)
Friday - Swaziland
Drive to Swaziland, one of the few remaining African monarchies. Travel past the Drakensberg Mountains, where rivers race through deep gorges and plunge down into shimmering waterfalls. Visit the bustling market and the capital city of Mbanane. Your accommodations reflect a country atmosphere, with colorful gardens. FORESTERS ARMS (B,L,D)
Saturday - Kruger
Travel to Kruger National Park–one of the largest national parks in Africa. Kruger boasts 130 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds. During game runs in open vehicles, be on the alert for elephant, lion, cheetah and rhino as they emerge from the bush. The protruding eyes of hippo and crocodile observe you from the rivers. Remember to look skyward to spot the ever-present birds of prey. MALELANE SUN (B,L,D)
Sunday/Monday - Mala Mala Reserve
Drive to the Mala Mala Reserve, where you’ll stay at the all-new Harry’s Camp on the banks of the Sand River. During your stay in this private reserve, enjoy safari drives from an open vehicle, great for photography and a sense of space. You’re accompanied by a professional game ranger and a skilled Shangaan tracker.
The highlight of your day is often the spotlit night game drive. Apart from being the leading private reserve in the world, Mala Mala boasts the largest privatelyowned tract of “Big Five” country in Southern Africa.
Harry’s Camp is the most intimate camp in Mala Mala, allowing a maximum of 24 guests. Its 12 well-appointed rooms have a verandah with spectacular views of the river. Enjoy meals at a shaded table on the riverbank and dinner in a reed-enclosed Boma. HARRY’S CAMP (B,L,D daily)

Fly to Johannesburg, where you can relax at the airport’s premier club lounge until your flight departs. (B)
Wednesday - USA or Canada
Return home aboard South African Airways. Your Safari At a Glance: Flights within Africa Driver/guide and naturalist Private sightseeing in Cape Town with Englishspeaking driver/guide, including full-day tour of Cape of Good Hope and full-day tour of Cape vineyards. On safari, wildlife viewing by Land Rover accompanied by river/guide and animal-spotter.
