It is both safe and a whole lot of fun to travel with children in Africa.
Whether you’re a grandfather taking the whole family on an African reunion, a busy parent wishing to spend time with your children or a grandmother showing your children’s children that you’re still full of cool surprises, Africa is a treasure chest of adventure and smile-until-it-hurts fun for the whole family.
In our Family Safari Collection, we have carefully selected destinations, hotels and safari lodges which offer a family journey of discovery that can be enjoyed by all. We strongly believe that the concerned child of today is the environmentally responsible adult of the future, so we have included a wide range of children’s safari experiences with exciting interactive conservation lessons for children of all ages.
DAY 1 - 3: Sun City Resort
You will be welcomed to South Africa at Johannesburg International Airport by ourrepresentative who will assist with car rental formalities and provide you with your personalised travel journal, maps, brochures and emergency contact numbers. It¹s a leisurely two-hour drive to Sun City, the entertainment mecca of South Africa. The most relaxed and casual of all Sun City¹s hotels, the Sun City Cabanas, offers a comfortable accommodation option for families, with direct access to the rolling lawns above Waterworld. Fully supervised entertainment is provided for children at Camp Kwena an adventure playground and there is mini-golf, a children¹s animal farm, bumper boats and lots more. The Valley of the Waves is a massive water theme park where guests of all ages can splash in the artificial wave pool and water rides. While the children are entertained there is time for parents to enjoy a round of golf or simply relax at the poolside.
Overnights on a bed & breakfast basis.
DAY 4 & 5: Madikwe Game Reserve Drive through the Northern Province countryside to Tau Game Lodge, on South Africa¹s border with Botswana. Conservation history triumphed when Tau, "the place of the lion", was restored to its historical ecological diversity with the development of the 76 500 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve, and the re-introduction of over 10 000 wild animals in the world¹s largest game relocation programme. Today, the malaria-free reserve is once again home to both white and black rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog. Accommodation is in ethnically decorated, air-conditioned chalets overlooking a waterhole. Two overnights on a full board basis including safari activities and children¹s safari programme. Early child dinners are possible, with great menus. Family suites are available. Nanny services available at a small fee. Regrettably, children under 6 years cannot join regular game drives but children between 6 and 11 years may join at the discretion of the lodge manager.
DAY 6: End of tour
Drive back to Johannesburg.
