The Imbali Museum preserves the many traditions and cultural practices of the AmaXhosa in support of the restoration and support of the cultural structures and values of the Rharhabe Kingdom. From the ritual at birth (inkaba) to the spiritual bringing back of the deceased, the people of the Rharhabe Kingdom have followed the same beliefs and practices since time immemorial. Our beliefs engender a strong sense of belonging and of community well being - a community of both the living and the departed. The Imbali Museum is a living treasure to the people of the Rharhabe Kingdom.One of the significant and extremely valuable projects undertaken by the Imbali Museum is the recording of the oral history of the region.
