We take you on a journey into the heart of the New South Africa and offer an in-depth and intimate experience with the people and the progressive work that is being done towards reconciliation and healing in our country. (code Neila)
We start our experience with a visit of Constitution Hill - the site of
Johannesburg's notorious Old Fort Prison Complex, commonly known as Number Four, where thousands of ordinary people were brutally punished before the dawn of democracy in 1994.
Many of South Africa's leading political activists, including Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, were detained here. With the move of the Constitutional Court to the prison site, what was once a place of injustice and brutality has become a place of solidarity and
democracy for South Africa. Constitution Hill features an interactive
experience that celebrate South Africa's journey from its struggle against apartheid to the adoption of one of the most progressive constitutions in the world.
From here we cross the Nelson Mandela Bridge into the arty area of NEW TOWN, after which we take you to the very center of Johannesburg.
Here you wilfeel the buzz of Africa; the many scents and shades, the muti-shops(traditional medicine shops), the chaotic traffic, the informal street markets and the colourful people.
