Zulu Community (Half Day) |
|
This tour entails a visit to a local Zulu community living on the outskirts of the City of Durban.
After driving westwards towards Hammmarsdale and Drummond you will descend into the beautiful Valley of 1000 Hills, where you will be met by your local Zulu guide. This lovely valley is where rural Africa links arms gently with urban living. In days gone by, wagons would travel along the spine of the Valley of 1000 Hills, which was the main road into the hinterland from Durban.
The hospitality of these local people is renowned and guests will be escorted through the local village where they can meet with the Sangoma and Inyanga, see the crafters at work (beading and basketware) and take a walk along the banks of the Umgeni River whilst listening to tales of Zulu courtship. A visit can also be made to the local school, and guests are encouraged to bring any school supplies that they can find with them – ie pencils, pens, rulers etc. for donation.
This tour can be extended to include a traditional lunch at Isithembu Community Centre (extra R100 per person)
