Great Trek Adventure TCKA Camping Concept The concept behind a africa camping tour is for guests to enjoy the tasks they are responsible for, while still feeling like valued visitors who are on holiday. Clients’ involvement is an integral part of an enjoyable and successful journey. Clients are required to participate in certain tasks such as assisting the guide and assistant with the making and breaking up of camp, erecting and dismantling their tents with ease. Groups usually comprise a wide range of nationalities in the 25+ age group including the older "young at heart" traveller. The tours are aimed at healthy, active participants looking for an adventurous holiday. South Africa group camping sizes is kept relatively small with a maximum of 16 participants. Food & Drinks All meals are prepared by the guide & assistant/ cook with special emphasis placed on good, wholesome food. A continental breakfast: cereals, bread, jams, tea, coffee and milk is served in the morning. Lunch is usually a "cold picnic" with the main meal being enjoyed in the evening with a sit down dinner at a lantern lit table. Freezers on each vehicle allow us to be self-sufficient. Drinks and mineral water are not included on the tours and may be purchased from a bottle store or supermarket at reasonable prices and stored in the cooler box/ fridge provided. Tea and coffee is available when in camp.
Camping Guides & Assistants 2 crew accompany every tour with the guide & assistant/ cook taking care of all meals. Our dedicated and professional tour leaders are selected for their experience of the African bush, thus ensuring that your travel experience is enjoyable and successful. The guides are in the full time employ of the company. Detailed information on the history of the area, fauna and flora is given to participants during the safari. A local camp assistant/ cook helps with general camp chores and duties. The safaris are conducted in English. Translators are available on request. Kiboko Vehicles Custom built Mercedes Benz & Toyota vehicles designed for African conditions. Toyota Minibuses may be used for groups of 4 or less. African Conditions Please note that itineraries will depend on local conditions: Travelling in Africa is sometimes unpredictable and participants should have a taste for adventure. By the very nature of travelling in remote areas there are unforeseen challenges to overcome.
