Hike in the Amatola Mountains one of the best hiking routes in South Africa the Waterfall Route Trail. Rated by many as the king of trails in South Africa. (see March 2003 edition of Getaway Magazine or the book '20 Best Hikes in South Africa'
Day1:
We set out for the mountains and begin our hike through the aptly named Waterfall Forest to an overnight hut in the hills.
Day2:
This is a spectacular day's walk over a mountain peak where eagles soar, and down a deep gorge with many waterfalls.
Day3:
Today we can enjoy any number of dips in the rock pools along the beautiful Wolf River as we head for a Xhosa homestead below the forest.
Day4:
We spend the morning at leisure touring the region on our way back to East London.
