Etosha Camping Safari  2N/3d   tcnts

The three-day Etosha Camping Safari is an easy and comfortable way to experience one of Africa's great parks. Participation is minimal, the groups are small and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed.

Price: From $403  per person

Duration: 3 days

Highlights: Namibia, Etosha National Park, Windhoek

Includes: 3 nights serviced camping; all meals; guided road transfers; game viewing activities
Tour Brief

Join a small group for a fun and relaxed three-day camping safari in Etosha National Park, which is one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa. The tour starts and ends in Windhoek and you will have game drives on all three days.

Group sizes vary from 1 to 16 and you travel in either a Landcruiser or a Minibus. All meals are included and the camping is assisted - your participation is limited to setting up of tents.

Etosha is unique. Its waterhole culture forces the plains game to drink during the middle of the day when predators are most lethargic; thus it's not uncommon to have a collage of several different species in the same frame. Lions, elephants and several endemic species of antelope and birds - including 46 raptors - add to your game viewing enjoyment.

Etosha has an estimated 250 lions, 300 rhinos, 2,500 giraffes, 6,000 zebras, 20,000 springbok and 2,000 elephants. This on top of a large number of lesser and common plains herds, and abundant birds makes game viewing in Etosha something special.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Namutoni, Etosha National Park East

Arrive in Etosha, via the eastern gate, in the middle of the Afternoon. The drive is about five and a half hours.

On the way: Stop at small rural towns for refreshments; game drive through the park to the eastern camp stopping at several waterholes along the way

When you're there: Set up camp at Namutoni and relax with a cool sundowner; walk to the floodlit waterhole where many nocturnal species come to drink oblivious of their awed audience.

Day 2: Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park South

Drive through the park to Okaukuejo - the southern-most camp in Etosha.

On the way: A full day's game driving, stopping at waterholes along the way; lunch and a swim at Halali.

When you're there: The waterhole at Okaukuejo often sees elephant, lion, zebra and several species of antelope; black rhino favour it as well, making this one of the best game-viewing sites in the Park.

Day 3: Windhoek

After your morning game drive, it's time to head for Windhoek to arrive around 4pm. The roads are paved and the driving time is about five and a half hours.

On the way: Stop at the wood carvers' market in Okahandja.
