10-Day Namibia Roundabout - 1st Class Lodges

DAY 1
Depart from Windhoek and travel south to the Mariental area and then east into the fringes of the Kalahari Desert for your first night on tour.

Guided & self-drive option: Bagatelle Kalahari Desert Lodge, dinner & breakfast included

DAY 2


From the Kalahari, travel west to the Namib Desert through wide open plains with beautiful mountain scenery. The vegetation changes from shrub savannah to desert grasses and small shrubs as one approaches the Namib.

Guided & self-drive option: Kulala Desert Lodge, dinner & breakfast included

DAY 3
Early morning rise to drive to the beautiful Sossusvlei dunes where the best time of the day is early when the light is superb and fewer people in the area.

The morning will be spent here on photography, dune climbing, visit Dead pan as well as Dune 45. Return to base for lunch with the afternoon free to relax after the early morning rise!

DAY 4
From Sesriem, head north to Solitaire and then west to the Kuiseb Canyon and the gravel plains of the Namib. The route will go via Walvis Bay to visit the lagoon which is home to many bird species including flamingo, pelican, egrets, waders and lots more. From Walvis Bay, travel north along the Skeleton Coast to the lovely town of Swakopmund.

DAY 5
Dolphin Cruise / Museum / Marine Aquarium

A whole day is set aside to spend in this German colonial style town where there are a wide variety of optional extra activities on offer. These range from Dolphin Cruises (recommended), Skeleton Coast scenic flights (recommended), dune 4X4 quad biking, dune boarding, visits to the museum and marine aquarium and lots more. Enjoy fresh fish and seafood available at a wide range of restaurants!

DAY 6
From Swakopmund, head north along a section of the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross to visit the breeding colony of Cape Fur seals before heading inland to Uis, the centre of Damaraland. From here, head north through this semi-desert are, beautiful with eroded granite hills and dolerite dykes to the Twyfelfontein area. If time permits, visit the “open air museum” of Twyfelfontein this afternoon, or tomorrow morning.

DAY 7, 8 & 9

Etosha National Park
These day are set aside to spend in the Etosha game reserve for game drives and game viewing at numerous waterholes. This park is well known for its vast herds of animals congregating at the waterholes, especially during the hotter part of the day, different to other reserves where game is seen more early morning and late afternoon!

Day 8 & 9
