Namibia Safaris

Our Namibia  Safari and Tours, are broken down into 5 categories giveing you the  option to  do a   General Tour of Namibia, or add together  different combinations of different smaller Namibia tours.

Since Namibia  is such a  different experience or eco sytem say from South  Africa or Botswana, some folks prefer to do a tour of Namibia  as a seperate tour.

However there are those who like to combine them.

There is a  easy way to get  folks into Namibia from the   Okavango Delta  of Botswana , so these 2 areas work well together...the lushness of the Delta,  versus the dryness desert conditions of Namibia.

A Namibia Safari is limited in scope to a few of the Nambia Safari National Parks like the Etosha National Park.

Generally when we custom design a Namiba Safari, we add on other actvities such as the Skeleton Coast, Cultural tribal tours, and the majestic Sand dues of Sossusvlei.

Since we custom  design tours for Namibia, we can create any combination that  you  want....

About Namibia

The name Namibia was derived from the Namib Desert , one of the largest features in the country. The word Namib is related to the Bushman word for “the dry place”.

Even though sparsely populated and predominantly arid, Namibia is home to a wide range of ethnic people ranging from the traditional Himba people of the north-west,to the Bushmen in the north-east, Owambo, Damara, Herero, Nama, Kavango as well as people of European descent.

So we can add in a Cultural component, to your Namibia  Safari.

With a population of a little over 2,000,000 people, Namibia has one of the lowest population densities in the world.

The majority of the people live on tribal land, in the northern areas between the Etosha National Park and the Angola border.

An arid country with rainfall varying from year to year, but with diverse features to be admired and enjoyed. Geological processes over more than 2 million years has shaped Namibia to what it is today, wide open landscapes, beautiful dune formations, mountainous areas as well as prolific wildlife in areas such as the Etosha National APrk

Namibia, a large country of 824 268 km², borders South Africa in the south, Botswana to the east, Angola in the North and Zambia/Zimbabwe at the Caprivi. So we can add a Multi national component to your Namibia   Safari.

The only perennial rivers lie along the borders, with the Orange River forming the border with South Africa, the Kunene and Okavango Rivers with Angola and the Zambezi with Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The ephemeral river systems of the country are home to many animals as well as being the water source for many of the people living close to these rivers. It is in some of these rivers, such as the Ugab, Huab, Hoanib and Hoaruseb Rivers, where the desert dwelling elephants and other desert adapted animals can be found.

The longest river in the country is the Fish River which flows into the Orange River. It is along this river that the Fish River Canyon is situated, second only to the Grand Canyon of North America.

Namibia has 14 different vegetation zones ranging from dune desert and semi-desert to the wetlands of the Caprivi, woodlands, shrub and forest savannahs and mountain vegetation.

Summer, from November to April, can be very hot, especially in the interior and southern areas.

Daytime temperatures vary from 30ºC to over 40ºC but night temperatures, especially in the desert, can drop to below 15ºC.

The coastal regions, even though desert, is generally cool throughout the year due to the prevailing southwesterly wind blowing over the cold Atlantic Ocean.

Winters can be cool during daytime but cold, dropping to 0ºC, at night.

The rainy season is generally from November to March but being, predominantly desert, rainfall figures fluctuate.
