2N/3D:Mandela Trail Village based overnight experience, Southern Wild Coast(budget) |

In accordance with our philosophy of active community participation and offering guests the opportunity to travel by 4X4, bicycle and on foot, this short trip has combined all of these features.
A focus for this experience is an over night village stay home hosted by locals from KwaDebese village and visiting the Nelson Mandela Museum in Umtata.
Day One Political and Historical introduction to the former Transkei Early departure [8am] from Chintsa for the former Transkei. En route guests will stop at the Kei River Canyon for an introduction to the former Transkei region. Crossing by foot over the old railway bridge you will enter a land of cultural and ecological fascination and birth place to “the father of our nation” Nelson Mandela. In Umtata we will visit the world renowned Nelson Mandela Museum which houses all the gifts presented to Madiba by political leaders and friends around the world since he was elected in 1994. It also includes an exhibition of the life of Nelson Mandela based on his autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom. Passing by Qunu his present home we will gain a valuable insight into Madiba’s upbringing and the formation of the man that has become a living legend. Afternoon is spent enjoying the beaches of the Wild Coast and learning of the wreck of the Jacaranda as she lies high and dry on a rugged and remote coastline. End the day with sundowners on the cliffs of the Kobonqaba overlooking one of the Xhosa’s most sacred Sangoma sites. Evening spent back in the village with a traditional dinner being served by our hosts
Day Two Cycle, hike and Kloof. After breakfast we head out for the day’s adventure activities starting with the mountain bike trail following the sledging paths through the villages Our lunch spot is situated in The Gates, an impressive cut back waterfall feature where we will have the opportunity to Kloof and enjoy the unique coming together of the various biomes from our region. After Lunch we continue on the sledging paths to the Gaxa River and the site where it is believed Nongquwase {the infamous prophetess} received her vision from the ancestors. Ending the cycle section on northern banks of the Kei River, we board the ferry for the crossing back to Kei Mouth and Chintsa. Overnight at Buccaneers Chintsa.
