With the incredible diversity of people in the city, you can imagine the kind of diversity of foods we have. So the Cuisine Route was designed to give guests the chance to explore the city through food. It's a great lense.
On these Full Day and Half Day experiences you will sample the flavours and stories behind several of the different cultural foods of the city, including Cape Malay, isiXhosa, Afrikaans and pan-African foods.
Half Day Cuisine Route: we start with an African coffee, freshly roasted, freshly ground, at one of our favourite roasteries, to get the senses going. we do a short Spice Tour in the BoKaap, following the routes of the people that arrived here from the East we follow those spices into some of the Cape Malay foods, such as samoosas, daaltjies and the wonderfully sweet and spicy koesusters. We'll also sample a little bit of curry we follow the spices into some of the pan-African foods that have made their way to Cape Town Full Day Cuisine Route includes the half-day activities, and then adds a visit to the popular isiXhosa chisa nyamas or hot-meat bars in Langa or Guguletu a visit to to a local home kitchen for a tasting of a spread of Loxion cuisine or Township cuisine.
