Walking Safaris: For me this is the ultimate way to experience an Africa Safari. When you are on a Walking Safari , you are on the animals level. A Walking Safari brings you close in touch, with the natural world. This close encounter with the bush, will leave you with a greater sense of respect and wonder. It goes without saying that all walking safaris are accompanied by specialized games guides. Walking Safari guides have to undergo pretty intensive education and testing. Botswana offers walking Safaris, within the Chitabe in the Okavango Delta and the Selinda areas. There is a certain level of fitness, durablity ie being the outdoors, hot sun, insects, that goes along with wanting to do a Walking Safari. They can last for a day, usually 3 to 5 hours in the morning, and more in the evening, or go on for as long as you want it to. You can also combine a few days walking Safari , with some days driivng. Depending on the area, you will sleep in semi permanent camps, or taken back to a base camp. |
