The summer rains bring a feast for Lion, Hyena and Cheetah as thousands of migrating Zebra and Wildebeest assemble in a chaotic pattern on the marshes. Savute pulses to a timeless rhythm, melodies of mysterious wet and dry cycle that mould its landscape and determines its inhabitants. A winding fossil channel vanishes into the sweeping expanse of a relic marsh, where the spectacular fortress of the Gubatsa Hills relieves Savuti's extraordinarily flat countryside. Savute Safari Lodge peers out from ancient Camelthorn trees on the shore of the channel.
The cocktail bar summons you with a cold drink on a hot Savute day, while a fireplace turns the lounge into a cosy refuge on winter nights. A handful of small pans sustain Savute's thousands of animals with a permanent, yet fragile water source. On an open vehicle game drive, conducted by a professional guide, droves of bull Elephants shuffle past you towards the water and talk about you in gentle reassuring rumbles.

The unique design of the suites with their spacious interior and large glass sliding doors sets Savute Safari Lodge apart from typical safari accommodation. | The summer Zebra migrations is a spectacle of up to 25 000 animals trooping through Savute to rain-ripe grasslands. | | |
The game viewing offered by Savute is an experience not to be missed, especially if you are visiting in the summer months, after November's first rains when thousands of animals are drawn to the area. Savute Safari Lodge's highlights are its concentrations of Lion and Hyena, as well as its Leopard, Cheetah, Black-Backed Jackal and the many lone Elephant bulls, usually seen frequenting their favourite watering holes!
The summer Zebra migrations, an awe-inspiring spectacle of up to 25 000 animals trooping through Savute in search of the rain-ripe grasslands to the south, is determined by the rains, but usually occurs between November - December and again between February - April when the Zebras migrate back north to the Linyanti.
At the end of the day admire the sunset from the Savute Safari lodge's upstairs viewing deck and watch Wild Dog hunt in the channel where Crocodiles once swam. After silver service dinners in the elegant dining room retire to your safari suite and let the gentle Scops Owl and the faraway roar of Lions lull you to sleep.
