CC Africa’s Sandibe Safari Lodge is set on a permanent channel of the magnificent Okavango Delta, adjacent to the game-rich Moremi Wildlife Reserve on a 270 square kilometre
(104 square mile)private concession.

The beautiful thatched lodge nestles between permanent water and grass-swept plains and was built with a commitment to “treading lightly on the earth”. LOCATION

Sandibe Safari Lodge is situated in a remote wilderness area in the southeastern Okavango Delta, 20km/12 miles east of Chief’s Island, on the southern border of Moremi Game Reserve and within the Santantadibe River system. Sandibe has exclusive traversing rights over 270 km² of wilderness. The site was specifically chosen for its extraordinary beauty, its prime location on the permanent Delta and its proximity to the game-rich grassy plains.

ACCESS

Scheduled Air Botswana flights to Maun or Kasane. Transfer by light aircraft to Chitabe airstrip. 45-minute transfer to Sandibe Safari Lodge, game viewing en route.

UNIQUE SELLING POINTS

Situated near permanent channels of the Okavango Delta, Sandibe Safari Lodge offers a water and wilderness experience with the excitement of viewing big game on land, Exclusive access to 270 km² comprising six broad habitats and associated bird, plant and animal species, Guided walking and mekoro excursions, Night game-drives, Delicious Pan-African cuisine, Set in a palm forest the architecture is guided by the principle of a light footprint.

ACCOMMODATION

Eight intimate African-inspired cottages with en suite bathroom, twin hand basin, separate w.c and shower and dressing area. The cottages are airy with all windows covered in gauze to maximise views of the forest and the Okavango Delta. Each cottage has an elevated viewing deck which is perfect for intimate candlelit dinners.

GUEST AREAS

In the heart of the camp, tucked under the forest canopy, is the soaring sitting and dining area with quiet, hammocked decks affording views across the waterways and savanna. A shaded swimming pool and well-stocked African crafts shop are close by. Pan-African dinners are prepared and served in the open boma that boasts a unique charcoal-cooled wine cellar.

ACTIVITIES

Twice daily game-drives in open game viewing vehicles, bush walks, Delta cruises in an electrically powered ‘eco-boat’, mekoro (traditional canoe) excursions in the Delta, bush breakfasts, elegant bush dinners and bird watching.

GENERAL

Weather – The Okavango has hot, wet summers (October to April). Temperatures can rise to over 40ºC/104ºF and usually drop to 25ºC/77ºF at night. Winters (May to September) are dry and cool, and the nights can be chilly.

Rainfall - The rainy season – generally in the form of magnificent afternoon thundershowers – is from late December to the end of February, sometimes continuing into March. Summer rains bring spectacular migrant birds to Botswana. Average rainfall 50mm/20"

Malaria – please note Sandibe is situated in a malaria area and

necessary precautions should be taken

Children -- are welcome. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game-drives, mekoro and walking activities. Child minders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game-drives at the Lodge Manager’s discretion. An extra bed can be arranged for a child 11 years and younger sharing its parents’ tent.
