Botswana Safari's offer a rare combination of water and land-based camps, rivers and open plains, and the fascinating eco diversity (4 eco systems) makes it a must for an African Safari wish list.
A Botswana Safari offers options that include:
1 Mobile Camping Safaris
2 Permanent Tented/Lodge Camps
3 Houseboats on the Chobe River
4 Botswana Walking Safaris
5 Canoe/Mokoro Safaris.
6 Okavango Delta water based Safaris
7 Bushman Cultural Interaction
Transport to the different safari areas can includes private plane fly ins, scheduled bush flights, as well as overland vehicles. I do all the Internal flights to get you to where you need to be for your Safari.

This is one of the plane types that is used for the bush Safari camp transfers on a Botswana Safari.
Botswana Safari Circuit Dry season would look like:
2-3N Chobe National Park
2 to 4N Okavango Delta
2N Linyanti/Selinda/Kwando Area
2N Savute
Botswana Safari Circuit Green season would look like:
2N Savute
2N Kalahari area.
2N Chobe not the river front area
Another option to experience Chobe National Park, is by a Houseboat Safari on the Chobe River.
Alternatively add a 2N bushman interaction in a remote lodge to enhance the safari experience,as well as they have a Predator Protection Project
During the dry season, its well worth it to do a land based ie game drives and a houseboat Safari. The houseboat Safari is nearly unique to Chobe National Park, and being so close to the animals as they come down to drink, with the sun setting over the Chobe river, ever alert for predators is quite an amazing experience.
If you are not interested in reading general information about a Africa safari or particularly about what makes up a Botswana Safaris, then our sample Botswana Safaris at the end of this page give reference information that will paint a clear picture of the different Botswana Safari options
I am personally particularly fond of Botswana as a place to experience a Africa Safari, due to its unique diversity. My suggestions for accommodation, mode of transport and areas to visit will be based on your interests, lifestyle preferences, time available and budget.
All YOU have to do is "enjoy the ride." Additionally, the famous Victoria Falls is a mere 90 minute drive from Chobe National Park and this spectacular sight can easily be included in your itinerary. They work well together thereby enhancing your Safari experience.
For those with less time to travel and or a less flexibile trip budget, a diverse and balanced African Safari experience can include the Kruger National Park in South Africa and Chobe National Park Botswana, with a stop over in Victoria Falls.

Your Botswana Safari can be any combination of the following:
1) The Chobe National Park , which is about a 90 minute easy road transfer from the Victoria Falls, is world
famous for its huge elephant herds that gather to drink along the river banks. Here we offer permanent tent and lodge options, as well as camping tents with en-suite bathroom, Chobe Safari camping options and a houseboat Safari option as well. Game viewing along the Chobe rive is generally good all year - best from May to October.
2) The famous Okavango Delta ,the worlds largest inland delta, offers both land and water activities that will enhance your Botswana Safari experience.
The Okavango Delta is one of the world’s largest inland water systems. It's headwaters start in Angola’s western highlands, with numerous tributaries joining to form the Cubango river, which then flows through Namibia (called the Kavango) and finally enters Botswana, where it is then called the Okavango.
Okavango Delta Safari game activities here are:
1) Land game viewing.
2) Walking on the Islands
3) Mokoros small dug out canoes where you are poled on the channels..( not so much a game activity as a peaceful, leisure experience., so you can experience the beauty of the Delta.
4) Power boating on the Dela Channels..enable you to go deep into the channels.
Many choices of camps and land vs water camps. This is important as there are other areas in Botswana which are mainly land only, so one can experience both types of eco systems ie water and land safaris.
3) The Kwando/linyanti/ Selinda area , is the 3rd eco system of Botswana. There's a good chance of seeing Wild Dogs in this area.
Game viewing on the Linyati River is good all year - best from May to October.
The Savute Channel is flowing for the first time in years, and canoe safaris are available.
However, as the channel is currently flowing, the season extends to October and game viewing should be excellent.
4) During the Green season, (Dec-April) the Kalahari Desert area is a magical paradise. The Green Season as it's known, offers a different dimension to a Botswana Safari. This area also has a migration in the summer green season, and the carnivores are not far behind, making for great viewing opportunities.
